A tale which ends with a black egg

The weekend went like this. I woke up. I rolled about in bed. I cuddled my electric blanket. I sipped my tea in the sun and read a book. Skyped mom. Picked up Rhee from the station. Bought a donut. Ate the donut by the river. Watched fish my the river. Got attacked by thistles at the river. Went to a Christmas concert. Heard amazing chimes. Drank some tea and ate some snacks. Was adored by the Japanese for being a gaijin. Said hi to some of my teachers. Went home. Got dressed for winter. Headed east into the night under a full moon. Went to the illumination park. Saw almost half a million lights on a hill. Went inside this amazing room made of lights that were choreographed to magical music. Went in it again. Went in it three more times. Watched the full moon rise over a pink field and little white butterflies. Froze in the chilly night. Treated us to a hot chocolate and warm dinner in a cafe on the lake. Went home and watched an eclipse before bed.

Another clear and beautiful day on Sunday. Drove two hours to Hakone in Kanagawa. Wound through the mountains. Loved the immense view of Fuji. Dipped down in a valley with a lake. Drove along the lake until we saw the famous torii on the lake with Fuji in the background. Walked along the lake. Took a thousand pictures. Than a thousand more. Saw a pirate ship. Took a thousand pictures of the pirate ship. Saw a shrine. A thousand more. Purified. Rang the bells. Prayed. Went and played by the waters edge under the torii a bit longer than went to a valcano! Admired the dead sulfuric landscape. Smelt the rotting stench. Climbed up to a boling pool and hot river. Bought some eggs that turn black when boiled. Played with the eggs. Took pictures of the eggs. Peeled the eggs. Ate the eggs. Not as bad as the awful way the place smelt and tasted. Watched the sun set over the rocky landscape and headed home.

This week I decided to let the pictures do the talking. It was a fabulous weekend despite the bone chilling cold. And because of that terrible cold the sky was clear the way it can only be in winter and we had amazing views form Hakone which is mostly about luck. Finished the evening with a strawberry milkshake! Perfect two days!
